Directions for attaching the Chronotrack D-Tag Timing Chip to your running shoes for Road Racing
The D-Tag must be placed ON YOUR SHOE exactly as it is shown below. The more you flatten the D-Tag the less it will read.

  1. Remove D-Tag and directions from bib. Pull from the right side or the adhesive backing will remain attached to the D-Tag and it will become a mess of sticky goop.
  2. Separate D-Tag from the directions by folding at the perforation and tearing apart
  3. Crease D-Tag on the Fold Lines.
  4. Insert D-Tag under the laces face down. ONLY ONE to TWO laces (DO NOT STRETCH IT OVER MULTIPLE LACES OR IT WILL NOT READ)
  5. Remove the adhesive tab under the BLACK square. Sometimes the clear plastic remains overtop the adhesive tab. Use your fingernail and remove any remaining clear plastic.
  6. Attach adhesive tab to non-adhesive tab
  7. Press firmly together forming a “D” shape
  8. Position TAG number side up and tie shoe

If you look closely at the bottom of the D-Tag you will see the actual electronics. The SILVER Dog-Boned shape is the electronic CHIP. The crease lines that we talk about above are just to the right and left sides of the electronics. If you look at the picture below the electronics of the D-Tag is sticking straight up in the air. You want that extreme bend so that it will read well.

Using the hole to tie it to your upper shoelace. This is recommended for MUD RUNS and when it rains. Use the adhesive strip to attach the D-Tag together and then lace one of you shoelaces through the hole and tie your shoes.

Both of these are acceptable ways to attach the D-Tag to your shoe - DO NOT FLATTEN IT OUT!

  1. Wrap the ankle strap around your ankle using the Velcro strip.
  2. Make sure that it is pointing away from you as in the picture below.

  1. DO NOT take it off the band. If you do so you will probably not put it back on correctly and it will not read.
  2. DO NOT place the ankle strap UNDER your WETSUIT or socks. It must be exposed when you are running over mats.
  3. It is not a wrist strap. It must be placed around your ankle.
